Wild Water Wilderness - 2007

Before Pony Express, the Wild Water Wilderness featured two great attractions - Bigfoot Rapids and Mystery Lodge.  Shown below are key areas of the Wild Water Wilderness as they looked before Pony Express moved in.

Bigfoot Rapids
Near the end of Bigfoot Rapids.  Pony Express track and tunnel now dominate this area.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and other snacks at the Bigfoot Broiler.  Note the lack of Pony Express in the background.

Wilderness Scrambler
The Wilderness Scrambler used to be the Whirlpool in The Boardwalk, but was moved to Wild Water Wilderness to make room for Perilous Plunge.  It was removed for good to make room for Pony Express's queue.

The Ranger Station Nature Center is only open on the busiest days, so catch it when you can.  The Ranger station was moved to to make room for Pony Express's station.

Looking in from the Western Entrance, one sees more open space and less thrill.

Changes were also made to Ghost Town to make way for Pony Express.  This building, formerly a candle shop and then Santa's Workshop at Christmas, and the peek-in behind it are no longer standing.  Both were removed to make room for the Pony Express Outpost - formerly the Ranger Station above.

Possibly the most dramatic change for Knott's fans happened in Boothill.  Gone is this tranquil path to the Wilderness Dance Hall and in its place is the launch for Pony Express.
