One of the most famous images of  the Haunt - looking right into the heart of Ghost Town!

GhostRider is decorated and ready to go.  Before this night, it had been a long time since I've ridden GhostRider.  I had forgotten how quickly this ride flies through the second half, and it still sits firmly on my list of favorite coasters.

A
dim Silver Bullet awaits its riders.  I enjoyed a rare opportunity to walk onto Silver Bullet during the night.  I took advantage of the situation and had a few rides on this incredible coaster.  It looks better than ever, bathed in subtle Haunt lighting.

Long-time Haunt fans know this scene well.  The pathways during the Haunt are dark.  Knott's usual bright, white lights are replaced with dark blue or purple.  The empty paths of opening night provided an opportunity get an often overlooked picture uninterrupted by thousands of screaming, laughing guests.

Late into the night, the Main Gate area is still a hive of activity.

Even with the sparse crowds of opening night, I could tell that Knott's has a winner on their hands with Haunt 2005!  All the mazes looked incredible.  Most impressive this year was the new addition to the Mystery Lodge area.  13 Ax Murder Manor is the most elaborate maze ever designed for the Haunt.  The detail built into the scenes was incredible!

This ends Bear-ytales.net's look into Halloween Haunt 2005.  Be sure to visit ThemeParkAdventure.com for more Haunt coverage than you can shake a shaker can at.  Years ago Rick West brought me to my first Haunt and the addiction took hold immediately.  To this day, Theme Park Adventure continues to publish the most complete coverage of the Haunt anywhere.  Even with all the pictures in the world, nothing can top the experience of being there.  Haunt is an event that needs to be experienced to be appreciated.  It completely changes the atmosphere of Knott's.  Monsters, screams, theming, Haunt smoke, area music, and the mazes.  Most of all, everyone is there to have a great time, and it shows.  The talent comes back every year to take part.  It's very difficult to sustain the level of energy required participate each night, and their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to the entire crew at Knott's Berry Farm for another fantastic Haunt and the work you put into it year after year.  Another job well done!
